The Final Moments of Karl Brant

The Final Moments of Karl Brant Рpart detective story, part theoretical futurism Рis a great sci-fi short reminiscent of The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits. Written and directed by award-winning graphic novelist M. F. Wilson, the film stars Paul Reubens as the friend of Karl Brant. From Nerdist:

Brant is working on a way to upload his memories into a computer in order to effectively reconstruct his consciousness in the virtual world. It appears someone wanted him dead for it. Two detectives (Janina Gavankar and Jon Sklaroff) are the ones investigating and the key to solving the case comes from a decidedly non-traditional source.

The story was inspired, in part, by the work of Ray Kurzweil, author of The Age of Spiritual Machines, The Singularity is Near, and The Age of Intelligent Machines. Kurzweil is a proponent of the idea that human longevity will be tied to machines, and that one day, it may be possible to exist within virtual space.
